The Summer I Want
This June, I'm want to start thinking less about what I want to do this summer and more about how I want summer to feel.

I do not want to spend the whole season just surviving it.

I do not want to feel behind, depleted, snappy, and worn out by the time August rolls around. I do not want to limp my way through hot days, messy kitchens, shifting routines, and all the extra snacks, laundry, people, and pressure that summer can bring.

What I really want is pretty simple.

I want energy.

I want a little more patience.

I want to feel steady in my body and calmer in my mind.

I want room to enjoy my family instead of feeling like I am constantly trying to catch up with them.

I want summer to feel lighter.

Not perfect. Not wildly productive. Not color-coded and magical every second. Just lighter. More supported. More alive. More like I am actually in the season instead of getting dragged through it. Not that I don't want to get things done around the house, I do. I just don't want to be consumed by it.

How Do You Want Summer to Feel?

This is such a simple question, but it matters.

Because most of us are used to planning summer around logistics. Trips. Camps. Activities. Food. Bedtimes that drift later and mornings that start slower. We think through all the moving parts, but we do not always stop and ask how we want to feel in the middle of it all.

Do you want to feel rested?

Clear-headed?

More energetic?

Less bloated and foggy?

More present with your kids?

Less reactive?

More confident in your rhythms at home?

That question can shift everything.

Because when you know how you want summer to feel physically and emotionally, you can start making simple choices that support that version of summer.

Not a fantasy version. A real life wellness version.

Summer Can Be Fun and Still Feel Hard

I think this is important to say out loud.

Summer can be full of good things and still stretch you thin.

There can be sunshine and pool days and family memories and grilled dinners and watermelon on the porch and still...you feel tired.

You can love having your people home and still need more space, more support, and more structure than you thought you would.

You can be grateful and overwhelmed at the same time.

No worries if that is where you are. You are not doing it wrong.

For a lot of moms, summer removes one routine but does not replace it with anything truly supportive. And while that sounds freeing at first, it can leave you feeling scattered fast.

Meals are more random. Sleep can get off track. Movement gets pushed aside. The house gets lived in hard. Everyone is hungry all the time. And if you are not careful, you can end up meeting everyone else’s needs while quietly running yourself into the ground.

That is exactly why this is such a good time for a reset.

A Gentle Reset for Summer

When I say reset, I do not mean a giant overhaul.

I am not talking about waking up tomorrow with a twelve-step plan, a new personality, and a perfect morning routine.

I mean a simple pause.

A chance to notice what is draining you, what is helping you, and what would support you better in this season.

Maybe your body needs more support.

Maybe your energy is lower than you want it to be.

Maybe your moods feel off.

Maybe you are having a hard time staying steady with food, sleep, movement, or daily rhythms.

Maybe you just know you do not want to spend another season running on fumes.

That is where a reset can be powerful.

Not because you need to do it all.

But because small, steady shifts can change how your days feel.

Support Yourself First

If you are a homeschool mom, or really any mom who is carrying a lot, this part matters.

You have to support yourself too.

Not only your kids. Not only your home. Not only everyone else’s needs, schedules, emotions, appetites, and preferences.

You count too.

I know that sounds obvious, but so many of us have learned to treat our own support like an extra. Something we will get to if there is time. Something we earn after everything else is done.

But that mindset does not work for long.

You cannot pour from an empty cup. Totally true, even if it gets said so often we almost stop hearing it.

If you want summer to feel calmer, stronger, and more enjoyable, then supporting your body and your mind has to be part of the plan.

That might look like getting serious about hydration. Eating enough protein. Stepping outside in the morning. Taking your walk. Going to bed a little earlier. Building in alone time before the day gets loud. Choosing products and habits that help you feel more balanced and less depleted.

It does not have to be dramatic to matter.

What If Summer Felt More Balanced?

I love the idea of asking this instead of just bracing ourselves.

What if summer felt more balanced?

What if you had more consistent energy?

What if you felt less like you were dragging through the afternoon?

What if your body felt more supported, your mind felt clearer, and your emotions felt a little less all over the place?

What if you did not wait until fall to take care of yourself again?

This is the kind of shift that starts with awareness, but it grows through simple tools and rhythms.

Sometimes you need a fresh reset point. Sometimes you need better daily support. Sometimes you need both.

Simple Support Can Make a Big Difference

This is one of the reasons I keep coming back to simple, supportive wellness habits.

Not the all-or-nothing kind. Been there. Done that.

Not the kind that makes you feel like you have to become a different person overnight.

I mean easy things you can actually keep doing in real life.

The kind of support that helps you feel more like yourself again.

If summer is already feeling a little off, or if you can tell you are heading into it more tired than you want to be, this is a great time to look at what could help you reset and rebuild.

For some moms, that starts with wanting more energy and less overwhelm.

For some, it is wanting support for mood and motivation.

For others, it is wanting to feel more steady physically so they can stop white-knuckling their way through the day.

You do not need a massive plan. You just need a next step.

A Soft Place to Start

If you are craving a reset this summer, there are a few simple places to begin.

Reset can be a helpful place when you feel like you need a fresh start.

Master Cellular Nutrition can be a supportive option when your body needs daily foundational support.

Balance and Burn can fit well when you are looking for support with energy, metabolism, and feeling more steady in your body.

You do not need to know all the details right this second. You do not need to do everything at once. Let’s take it one step at a time.

The bigger point is this: you are allowed to want summer to feel good in your body too.

You are allowed to want support.

You are allowed to create a season that is not just about getting through it.

This Is Your Summer Too

As moms, it is easy to make summer about everyone else.

Their memories. Their fun. Their schedule. Their snacks. Their sleep. Their experiences.

And yes, those things matter.

But this is your summer too.

You get to care about how it feels for you.

You get to notice when your body needs more support.

You get to choose simple swaps and steady habits that help you feel better.

You get to start small and grow.

So before the season gets fully rolling, maybe pause for a minute and ask yourself:

How do I want summer to feel?

Then listen to the answer.

That answer might tell you more than any checklist ever could.

From Computer Programmer to Health and Wellness Educator

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! I’m Allison, momma to Jackson, Connor, Brady, and Keegan, married to Peter. We live in a Philly suburb here in Pennsylvania. Our life is beautiful and crazy, but we love each other, despite all the wrestling matches my boys host. We’re definitely a work in progress.

A little about me and how I got here...

I started out at Villanova for accounting, but soon found myself as a computer programmer creating websites in the mid-’90s. That lasted a few years before I decided to be a stay-at-home mom and I’ve never looked back!

In my 20s, I struggled with endometriosis, which began my journey into health and wellness—my true passion. I even blogged about eliminating an ovarian cyst through fasting! Now, I have a strong desire to help others by sharing my story and showing there's a better way.

Fast forward to my first son, Jackson. When he was a toddler, he decided to spray Shower Power in his mouth! Let’s just say Poison Control and I were good friends back then. Although I started my journey in the '90s with food, I didn’t fully connect the dots between cleaning chemicals and health until much later.

Today, I’m navigating life as a homeschool mom of one teen, a college mom, and I’ve just recently seen my two oldest boys get married! We also have two adorable mini poodles—our "girls"—to balance out the boy chaos. Homeschooling only one might seem simpler, but I’m busier than ever, balancing life and staying connected with my older boys.

I thoroughly enjoy teaching and sharing my love for natural health, fitness, and homeschooling. Fresh milled flour has become a recent passion of mine. I love baking and with all the poorly processed flours out there, it’s no wonder so many are gluten-sensitive. I’m far from perfect!

I’m passionate about empowering moms, especially homeschool moms over 35 with lively children, so they can take charge of their family's health.

If that’s you, get in touch—I’d love to help.

Here is my story on YouTube.
