The Best Part of Convention Wasn't What I Learned

Before I left for Orlando, I thought this weekend would mostly be about learning. New products. New science. New ideas.

And while I certainly came home with all of those things, they weren’t what stayed with me.

What stayed with me were the people.

Travel Days That Tested My Patience

If I'm honest, I wasn't just worried about getting there. I wondered how my hip would handle all the walking, the long sessions, and being away from home after PRP.

As it turned out, standing up during the sessions, taking things at my own pace, and a little time in the hotel hot tub made all the difference. By the time I came home, my hip actually felt better than I expected.

That felt like a quiet answer to prayer.

And honestly, that first night was exactly what I needed. After a long travel day, there was something so refreshing about laughing with friends, dancing, and remembering that these weekends are about connection too.

People Who Made It Worth It

Sometimes one sentence changes your whole weekend.

One of the best moments came when a friend high-fived me and said, “Way to go for inviting people!” I’ve been working hard on intentionally inviting others, and her simple encouragement landed right in my heart.

Sunday, I chatted with Howard, who reminded me of something we all need to hear. I’ve spent more time than I’d like to admit watching the scale. He told me consistency matters more than daily fluctuations. That wasn’t a product conversation. It was a life lesson.

The Part That Hit Me Deepest

One of the moments that stayed with me most had nothing to do with a product announcement or a new wellness idea.

It was hearing about the work of the Young Living Foundation.

We heard stories of children who now have access to education through the Young Living Academy in Ecuador.

We also learned about Hope for Justice and the work being done to rescue children from trafficking and exploitation. It was impossible to listen without being reminded that there are people facing challenges far bigger than the ones I usually spend my time worrying about.

The Academy shared this reminder:

When we first opened the Young Living Academy’s doors to 67 students back in 2009, we believed that the best way to eradicate poverty and to make lasting change in the community...
The Young Living Foundation is committed to providing relief to children harmed by the traumas of abuse, human trafficking, armed conflict, and all forms of violence & exploitation. To address these complex issues, we partner on programs that enable freedom, healing, and sustainable independence.

Sitting there, I found myself thinking, this is why I love being part of something bigger than myself.

Yes, I care about helping families make healthier choices. I love sharing products that have blessed our home. But when those everyday choices also help support work that brings hope to children and families around the world, it reminds me that this business has a purpose far beyond what's in my own kitchen or medicine cabinet.

Small Moments That Stuck

Of course I loved smelling the new oils, trying the new Zyng flavor, discovering Bird Bomb, and getting a sneak peek at the skincare coming this fall. But even those fun discoveries felt secondary to the conversations happening around them.

One thing I appreciated was watching brilliant scientists explain complicated ideas…and then watching John W translate them into language the rest of us could understand.

What I Am Taking With Me

Throughout the weekend I realized something. Every conversation that stayed with me had one thing in common.

Nobody was trying to impress anyone. They were simply sharing what they had learned. Listening. Encouraging. Laughing together.

Maybe that’s what serving people really looks like.

And maybe that’s true of wellness too. The healthiest lives aren’t built by doing everything perfectly. They’re built one conversation, one small choice, and one relationship at a time.

I came home with new products to try.
New ideas to implement.
New friendships to strengthen.

But more than anything, I came home reminded that this business has always been about people.

The conversations.
The encouragement.
The chance to serve.
The chance to give hope.

At the end of the day, the products matter because they help people.

The science matters because it helps people.
The business matters because it connects people.

And I’m grateful to be part of something that keeps reminding me of that.

Allison

Hey there! I’m Allison, a homeschool mom of 4 boys, married to Peter. Three of my boys have graduated, and I still have one in high school.

We live in a suburb of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Life here is beautiful, a little loud, and full of wrestling matches. We’re definitely a work in progress, and that’s real life.

A little about me and how I got here...

I started at Villanova studying accounting, then ended up working as a computer programmer building websites in the mid-’90s. A few years later, I became a stay-at-home mom and never looked back.

My wellness journey began in my 20s when I struggled with endometriosis. It opened my eyes to how much our daily choices matter.

I started with food, then slowly learned more about what supports a healthier home and body.

That journey grew into a passion for helping other moms see they don’t need to do it all. They can start small and grow.

When my oldest was little, he once sprayed Shower Power in his mouth. Let’s just say Poison Control and I were a little too familiar back then.

That moment stuck with me.

Even though I had already started making changes with food, it took me longer to connect the dots between cleaning products, toxins, and everyday wellness.

These days, I’m navigating life as a homeschool mom, college mom, and now a mom whose two oldest boys are married. We also have two girl poodles, and they help balance out all the boy energy around here.

I love teaching about real life wellness, simple swaps, fitness, and homeschooling. I also love whole foods, exercise, pickleball, and reminding moms they need some alone time before starting the homeschool day.

You can’t teach from an empty cup.

Fresh milled flour has also become a big passion of mine. I love baking from freshly ground grain, and I believe a lot of what bothers people is the processing, not just the gluten itself.

I’m passionate about helping homeschool moms 35 and up create a calm, fun, organized home, reduce toxins, and feel more confident about what really matters. You got this. Let’s take it one step at a time.

If that sounds like you, I’d love to help.

Here is my story on YouTube.
