Meal planning with Kids on the Go
I’m sitting here in my car waiting for my son, Brady, to finish his baseball practice on a rainy Saturday morning. Because I couldn’t leave thinking the practice might end early, I decided I would meal plan in the car.

Are you a meal planner? I love to plan the meals on paper because that feeling at 4 o’clock in the afternoon not knowing what I’m gonna have for dinner almost sends me into panic mode. I may not use everything on my meal plan, but at least there is a plan. I usually do about half of it.

So what are the things but I use to meal plan? I have my free meal planner template, two or three of the Trim Healthy Mama cookbooks and I either watch short meal planning videos on YouTube or I look at meal planners' websites. Today I started with the first trim healthy mama cookbook and then I watched one of Jennifer Overstreet’s YouTube videos for 15 minutes how she plans for the week. Her tips are great! She starts with smoothie bags, she plans to dessert, muffins (if she has time), and then she plans on her dinners. She puts all her dinners and small tote boxes. If you have a second fridge this is a great idea! Unfortunately our basement fridge is on the fritz.

The first thing I do is look at my calendar for the upcoming week and mark that on my meal plan template. Then I check my fridge and pantry to see what I already have. From there I look at the sales on the Whole Foods website and try to plan my meals around the sales and what I already. Then I plan my dinners and moved to lunches and breakfasts. The most important part is to get the dinners done because the other meals are easier to do on the fly.

Here is my week completed.

What are your best meal planning tips?
