How Do you Homeschool on Little or No Sleep?

How Do you Homeschool on Little or No Sleep?
How do you homeschool on little or no sleep?
I was up until past 1am last night prepping for a vendor event at our co op today. Printer issues. Ugh.
Thankfully I had prepped well on Sunday. But other things that helped:
✅no math lesson needed to be taught, just corrections from the review and he need to take a test
✅we completed the Key Word Outlines for his paper due Friday. So all he needs to do write his rough draft over the next couple days
✅Fix It Grammar is always on the short side
✅history read aloud is the most “teacher led” work I needed to do today
Now to muster the energy for our homeschool hike!

Bean Bags on the Sofa
Keegan on bean bags on the sofa

I’m not sure why but he threw them in there and then proceeded to jump on them. 🤷‍♀️ This is why our sofas don’t last!

Day in the Life of a 6th Grader

Day in the Life of a 6th Grader
How do your homeschool days look?

Being that Keegan just had a sneezing fit (allergies) and is taking a cat nap, I thought I’d lay out our day today. While I like to start at 9am, it’s usually closer to 10:30. 😆

Field Trip October and Hikes of course!

We had a great October! We started with a trip to Crystal Cave. I haven't been since I was little and it didn't disappoint! We started our morning with some gem mining. We then went to watch a short video on how the cave was discovered and then finally the tour! I don't remember anything of my previous visit so this was a real treat! I didn't know that a couple weddings happened inside the cave! Also, I didn't know what dark really looked like until they turned out the lights inside the cave! This was no Luray Caverns like in Shenandoah, where we went when Keegan was 6 months old in 2011 but it was still so cool!
Our second field trip was to the PA State Capitol. I had never been here and wow, this was amazing! We learned that this is the most ornate State Capitol in all 50 states! And the gold in the moulding and everywhere (but probably not the small picture frames) is 23 (not 24) carat gold! It was truly the most beautiful building I've ever been in. Check out the pictures for yourself and see if you agree with me.
The last field trip was seeing Raptor Man at our church on October 31. Now I had seen him 3 or so times before but it's been over 12 years so Keegan had never seen him and Brady was just a toddler. He shared his story of smuggling eggs from another country (and getting caught), his testimony and she also shared the Gospel.  We got to see different kinds of falcons, my favorite were the owls that flew around the sanctuary.  The last owl flew almost up to the ceiling and stayed there!
And of course we had hikes. We went to Warwick County Park, Struble Trail (practically in our back yard) and yesterday was Stroud Preserve.
