Reflections on our "break week"
Our week "off" or change up week, went by too fast.  I think we will have to do them more often!  We watched Torchlighter's Corrie Ten Boom, watched Mathtacular, read Percy Jackson, made Challah bread.  It was a good -sort of- relaxing week for us, at the very least it was less stressful and less complaining!  LOL

Last week was back to our regular routine and we both got back into it smoothly. Taking that "break week" had me remember that we don't need to do EVERYTHING on the curriculum.  I love Tapestry of Grace, our history spine for this year, it is so full and rich. I know if we don't read every word of every book recommended, it's going to be ok!  We worked on his lap book and we spent some time in China and even made chicken curry for dinner one evening since our break week was India.

We had 2 snowstorms in the last week and it's been great getting outside with the boys. I use the term "with" loosely.  I take Peaches, our mini poodle, out to run around.  I sled down once and hang out and mostly watch them sled over and over again.  I believe it's so important to get outside every day for physical and mental health.

So if you feel like you're in a rut, I highly suggest taking things differently for a week or more.  Continue to read aloud, and choose books you both love, not because they are in your curriculum for that specific week.  Also remember boys need to move and move a lot.  It's ok for them to walk around (or even on the furniture) while you're reading to them.

Enjoy your time, as they say: it does go by quickly.

How have you taken breaks/made changes to keep your sanity?
